Great when H.D's Lite-rise shades work.
'Someone' at HD has sacrificed quality for price. I can only guess that HD has gone 'public' with their stock.
Cheap-out has occurred inside the head rail at the 'transmission by use of a cheap nylon cord that is guaranteed to fray with use. There are better sold, but HD apparently opted out.
Yes, time to learn yet another 'trade'.

I've used these kits several times since we have quite a number of Hunter Douglas Duette LiteRise (Cordless) shades in our home, and stuff breaks over time. I feel very fortunate to have found this site that offers these repair parts, but most of all I feel extremely fortunate to have found the excellent "here's how to fix this" video. It's pacing and information delivery are very good.

This kit has saved my blinds multiple times and very thankful for Dave's Youtube video. But I would never, never, never, ever buy Hunter Douglas Duette LiteRise (Cordless) blinds as I have replaced this probably 5 times over the last 10 years. These blinds were in the house when we bought them and this particular blind covers 3 windows or about 12 feet long/wide. Prior homeowner probably shouldn't have installed this blind on that window because it constantly breaks.

This is exactly what I needed to fix our shades!
If you send your shades into Hunter Douglas for their warranty repair, you need to pay for shipping and they currently have a 1 month backlog.
Using these replacement parts, I was able to fix this in about 15 minutes.
There is a great video showing you exactly how to do this: https://youtu.be/O86RYtR0-XA

Not very handy and was a bit nervous about trying this, but the YouTube video and printed instructions were very helpful! We had a frustrating experience trying to get Hunter Douglas to repair this shade and finally decided to try it ourselves. Went terrific and the shade is back to full operation. Thank you!!

So I was a bit skeptical of such glowing reviews, but I'm sold now. Bill assisted me in the same positive way described above.
Automated Shade is the kind of small business any community would be proud to have in their town. I'll certainly be a return customer. Thanks!

Second time buying a repair kit for our Hunter Douglas shades. Thank you for the instructional video and making this repair as easy as can be! We have 4 shades and have now replaced the motors and transmissions on two of them. Hoping these will last us longer than the originals. We got 5 years out of the originals that doesn't seem all that impressive for what they cost.

Great website with very detailed instructions for the amateur blind fixer. Beats taking it into a shop. Had a top down/bottom up blind and needed to replace the "down" transmission and motors.
The video was detailed enough to figure this out (slacken the top spools prior to pulling last motor plug). Now working again good as new!
Thanks!!

Very happy I found this site and it had the video for repair. It saved me from having to send in this very large blind. It has broken every 3 years but this time not covered by Hunter Douglas warranty. If I ever have to replace this huge blind, I won't be replacing with Hunter Douglas and getting one with lite rise system. Husband watched video, put in parts, and working fine now. We will see how long it takes this time before it needs repairing again.

Feel like I won the damn lottery finding this site!! Spent an evening looking for parts for my Hunter Douglas shades and right as I was calling it a night, I came across this site. Clear instructions on which parts to order as well as the video detailing the replacement procedure. Ordered the parts that night and they shipped the next morning!! Couldn't be happier with the service and product.

My blind had been broken for over a year as I didn't want to face the expense of calling someone in. Based on the pictures here I realized that that I could get spare parts. I needed one email to clarify exactly what to order as my transmission color scheme was different, and I received an email within a day. All parts arrived very quickly and well packaged.
The YouTube video is worth watching, it takes you step by step through the process and it is really easy. Just go slow and keep watching the video.
The actual repair was quick and simple, and now works as good as new.

I also I missed the sentence about the repair of LiteRise Top Down/Bottom Up shade with two mechanisms, and ordered two sets of transmissions and motors. It turns out it wasn't that hard, just had to do everything twice. Instead of suspending the shade I had it stretched out on the ground both systems fully extended with chairs keeping it that way. No problem.

I have had nothing but problems with my HD Duette shades since day one. Considering the initial overall cost, I've been replacing the mechanisms myself each time a string breaks (and they all do sooner or later) rather than buy new shades. Today's purchase will be my fourth shade string/motor replacement in three years. I've done it so many times I could probably get a job fixing these suckers! Thank goodness for this site and the instructions, otherwise I'd be at the mercy of the company from which I bought these shades, where they would send it out of state and charge me an arm and a leg to fix.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND that anyone purchase these shades! They're definitely NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
The fix it kit is a great thing.

I am so glad I ran across this parts website and the instructions to fix these shades. I am so disgusted with these Hunter Douglas shades as this is the fourth time they've failed, but they were so expensive, I can't just throw them away yet. The first two times we sent them out for repair and waited many weeks for their return. It's a bedroom privacy shade, so it's quite inconvenient. On the third failure, I was going to junk them but then ran across this site. The repair was not that hard and it worked! Unfortunately, one has recently failed again, but as before, your processing and shipping response are stellar to get these troublesome shades back in use. The shade was out of commission a mere three days. Thanks much for providing an economical solution for this troublesome product.

My bad. I missed the sentence about the repair of LiteRise Top Down/Bottom Up shade with two mechanisms (one on each side of the headstock), AND that trying to repair these are much more complex. Realized this when everything was in pieces on the floor. (Ohhh, there are TWO mechanisms here....) Stared at the unit and my box of new parts for several hours.... With nothing to lose I decided to try to disable the top down function. I removed the motor assembly for the top down and tied the upper "slat" permanently at the top of the head stock by securing the cords around their take up reels. In other words the "top down" section won't move. Then followed instructions for repairing the 'bottom up' function. Worked great! We'll never miss the top down because in 10 years I don't think I used it once. Sure beats spends hundreds for a new shade!
