The Hunter Douglas LiteRise^® (Cordless) lifting system is a reliable and child safe lifting system used on many of Hunter Douglas shade types. When the lift system fails, it is pretty simple to repair.  After repairing a couple hundred shades, we have found that the lift systems fails for a couple different reasons...the most common being transmission failure in which the internal transmission take-up cord inside the transmission breaks.

To determine what the lift problem may be: Remove the shade from the window and place on a table. Look inside the headrail, Inspect the lift cord spools for jumbled up lift cord and the conical takeup cone inside the transmission for broken cord.

The lift motors are pre-tensioned and spring wound. The motor(s) become un-wound when the transmission cord breaks or lift cords pull up through the bottom rail. When we repair this lift system, we always replace the ENTIRE lift asssembly which includes the Transmission, Transmission Adaptor Plate, Motor(s) and Motor Retaining Plate so that it is fresh and ready to provide many more years of service. The motors, once unwound become un-usable!

NOTE: For older blinds 2000-2003, replace the Black Transmission with a White Transmission. The black transmission is obsolete.
